MG - MG J Type

The MG J Type was first shown in late 1932. With 847cc the 4 seater bodied car (either open or closed bodywork) was called the J1, and the 2 seater sportscar called J2. The following year came the 750cc supercharged versions of the J2 called the J3, while the supercharged racing version for the 750cc class was the J4 which was fitted with larger brake drums, and capable of over 100mph. The 2 seater bodywork style of the J2 with it's fold flat windscreen was the first MG with the distinctive slab tank at the rear, a style that lasted out with MG into the 1950's. And by 1933 the J2 had the cycle wings changed to swept wings, this bodywork style becoming such a distinctive MG look from then onwards.
