This 28x3 Blockley tyre has the diameter and overall width of what the 28x3 tyre size had in period, and is a tyre produced by us as part of the request for various beaded edge sizes made to a high quality from the VMCC - Vintage Motor Cycle Club - who were concerned at the poor quality of beaded edge motorcycle tyres available to their members on offer from the Classic tyre wholesalers. And since we are needing this 28x3 size for a 6 1/2hp Veteran car that we own, our 28x3 tyre will be perfect for motorcar as well as motorcycle use.
The 28x3 tyre size was a popular fitment for a variety of early American cars such as Curved Dash Oldsmobile, many of Fords earlier models such as Model A and N, Cadillac Model A, Maxwell and so on, as well as being used on European marques. This 28x3 tyre with its good looking tread pattern is also perfect for many models of V twin Indian and Harley-Davidson motorcycles, making these bikes look just as they did in period. The 28x3 tyre size is an imperial dimensioned tyre, along with the wheel rim it fitted, but in Europe this tyre was also referred to as 700x75 in some lists.
We are able to list price our Blockley 28x3 tyre at no more than the Ensign brand sold elsewhere, and close to half the price of Cokers Excelsior, and at fraction of the 28x3 Coker Firestone "Non -Skid" and Button tyres, which is possible because we sell our Blockleys direct to the end user and garages/ restoration shops, without using the services of the Classic tyre wholesalers. But we might now see the wholesalers reducing their prices, or even offer free tubes and postage etc now that the Blockley 28x3 has been made!
Note that Blockley can also supply a butyl inner tube to suit this tyre for those that require tubes, which we would recommend when fitting 28x3 tyres.
