835x135

The 835x135 beaded edge tyre size has not been produced for some 80 years, apart for a short period in the 1980's/90's when Michelin started making a range of beaded edge sizes, but Michelin chose to abandon making their beaded edge range after the continual troubles customers had with them, which they could not solve. However, the good news today is that Blockley make a replacement beaded edge / clincher tyre size that will fit the original 835x135 wheel rim.

The wheel rim for the 835x135 tyre was pretty much identical to the 820x120, the difference being that the wheel rim was nominally 10mm wider overall. Which means that you can fit our 820x120 tyre on to this rim.

We are aware of a customer who had some of the modern era Michelin 835x135 tyres fitted to narrower 820x120 wheel rims, and you can do it the other way around as well. So without doubt, as you are reading this, there will be many cars running with the 820x120 tyre size which are already fitted to 835x135 wheel rims, without the owners even being aware. An easy way to know which rim you have is the 820x120 rim was overall 98mm width and the 835x135 rim was nominally 108mm. Both had the IDENTICAL overall wheel rim diameter of 608.6mm ie where the tyre sits. There were minor differences but you would have a job to even measure these at home.

The Blockley 820x120 tyre has the largest diameter of any 820x120 tyre that is made, and can be fitted to the 835x135 wheel rim, to replace the extinct 835x135 tyre size. The tyre wholesalers recommend that you make new wheels fitted with 820x120 rims, a time consuming, expensive and pointless excercise that is not necessary. Just make sure the wheel rims that you have are in good condition.
