Austin - Austin 2200
The Austin 2200 was the 6 cylinder 2227cc engine version of the Austin 1800, which was produced between 1972 and 1975. This 6 cylinder was said to be the 4 cylinder Maxi engine with two cylinders added. And in the Austin 2200 this 6 cylinder engine was mounted transversely, the only time this has happened in a front wheel drive car. BMC rolled out variations to produce the Morris 2200 and the Wolseley 6. Post 1975 these cars (1800 and 2200) were evolved into the Princess.
Austin 2200 tyre size was originally 165x14. This was the same as the 4 cylinder version. Blockley produces an excellent 165HR14 size.
