Austin - Austin A40 Farina
Intended to be the replacement for the A35, and using the same 948cc ohv engine, the Austin A40 Farina was made between 1958 and 1968. Unusual for BMC, the company did not not badge engineer the Austin A40 into anything else. The original Farina A40 was made until 1961. For 1962 the Austin A40 Farina 2 was given a 3.5 inches longer wheelbase, a front anti roll bar and fitted it with the SU carburettors producing more power, compared to the earlier engines using the Zenith units. For 1962 the A40 Farina 2 engine was enlarged to 1100cc and in this format stayed in production until 1968.
The original tyre fitment for the Austin A40 was 5.20 x 13 which is radial equivalent 145R13 tyre size. Blockley produces this superb steel belted correct dimension 145R13 tyre.
