DAF - DAF 44
The DAF 44 was the new 850cc model introduced in 1966 alongside the 750cc Daffodil (now renamed DAF 33). The capacity increase to 850cc by giving the crankshaft a longer stroke, which produced considerably more power. The new DAF44 bodywork was restyled by Michelotti. Although production of the DAF 44 ended in 1974, these cars were available for some time, alongside the short lived DAF 46 model.
The DAF 44 used larger diameter 14 inch wheels with original tyre size135-14, which is a size no longer available any more, so the tyre size to use now is the radial 145R14 tyre. The Blockley 145R14 is a perfect replacement size, with period correct tread pattern and steel belt construction (as was standard fitment for the DAF 55).
