DAF - DAF 55
The DAF 55 was built from late 1967. Based on the DAF 44 model, it had an altered front suspension while the traditional 2 cylinder engine was also replaced. The DAF55 was fitted with a water cooled 4 cylinder 1100 cc Renault engine, and still retained the DAF continuously variomatic transmission. The DAF 55 initially had 4 door bodywork, but a 2 door version was offered shortly afterwards.
The DAF 55 was fitted new from the factory with 145R14 tyre size, whereas the DAF55 Marathon had the 155R13 tyre size.
