Maserati - Maserati Ghibli
The Maserati Ghibli was a front engined GT car which was prototyped in 1966 and available from 1967. Really a 2 seater, with a padded seat base (with no back to it) went behind the front seats to give the air of a 2+2 ! The engine was the Maserati V8 quad cam 4.7 litres coupled to a 5 speed gearbox. The bodywork (which was built in steel) was designed by Guigaro, with a open Spyder version being available from 1969. In the same year 1969 the Maserati Ghibli SS was built, which had the stroked 4.9 litre version of the engine, propelling it to over 170mph. The Ghibli stayed in production until 1973 to be replaced by the Khamsin.
Maserati Ghibli tyre size to start with was 205VR15 but later in production the improved 215/70VR15 was used, as this size became available - the same size which was used on Maseratis next model along, the Khamsin. See full details of this superb 215/70VR15 tyre below:
