Mercedes - Mercedes 190SL
The Mercedes 190SL, available from 1955, was a high quality 2 door sports car available as a coupe or roadster. The 190SL was fitted with a twin carburettor version of the 1.9 litre overhead cam four cylinder Mercedes M121 engine, and quoted to have a top speed of 100mph. Designated W121-BII, it was first debuted next to the 300SL at the New York. The 190SL continued in production to 1963 during which time some 26,000 Of the 190SLs were built, to be replaced by their 230SL.
The Mercedes 190SL originally fitted a cross ply tyre size was 6.40x13, a size virtually nobody fits now. The 6.40x13 in period had a diameter of 638mm and an overall width of 163mm. Today owners usually fit the radial ply 165R13 tyre size. Blockley manufactures the perfect 165R13 tyre size which will transform the handling.
