MG - MG VA

The MG VA was introduced in mid 1937 as a "scaled down" version of the SA, fitted with a 4 cylinder 1500cc engine, as also used in some Wolseley and Morris products. The engine was quoted as giving 55hp from it's twin carburettor engine, which with the some of the coachbuilt bodywork meant the VA acceleration was not particularly impressive by MG standards, but it had a top speed of 75mph. The MG VA chassis was available as a tourer, saloon or Salmons Tickford coupe, just as were the contemporary 6 cylinder MG offerings in the catalogue. Production stopped in 1939 and the VA was effectively replaced post war by the Y type.
