Reliant - Reliant Scimitar GTC SE8

Half way through the production years of the Scimitar SE6, Reliant unveiled the Scimitar GTC SE8 in 1980, which Ogle Design had been working on. The C in GTC stood for convertible. The Ogle companies Tom Karen used his existing SE5 design and strengthened the chassis sufficiently with triangulation to the scuttle to make a rigid enough structure to allow for an open top, yet suprisingly the car was still lighter than its predecessor. The car was well received and was later offered with a hardtop, but the car was expensive and didn't sell in big numbers during its listed production to 1988.
