Reliant - Reliant Scimitar GTE SE5

While Scimitar was building their ageing Sabre they saw the prototype car David Ogle had built based on the Daimler Dart, which Scimitar purchased the rights to, using it to make their SE4 models from 1964 to 1967. Unfortunately Ogle was killed in a car accident but Ogle Design was run subsequently by Tom Karen. He was asked by Scimitar to update the model into what became the new Scimitar SE5 which was produced from 1968 onwards, using the same 3 litre Ford V6 engine, which led to the sports hatchback we know today. The SE5A version followed in 1972. In 1975 the SE6 range was introduced, being a little wider and longer for increased comfort. The final model was the SE6B available from 1980 which was fitted with Fords smaller German built "Cologne" V6 engine, after Ford had stopped making their larger capacity Essex engine.

The Reliant Scimitar GTE SE5 was originally fitted with 185R14 tyre size, and Blockley produces this high speed rated period correct steel belt construction 185HR14 tyre - see details below:
