Salmson - Salmson 2300 S

In 1953 Salmson created the 2300 Sport, using the of the 2.2 litre Randonee as its base. The 2300 S sportscar kept the advantages of the Cotal gearbox and torque tube, with the rack and pinion steering and the cars were bodied as a 2+2 coupe. The 4 cylinder 2.3 litre twin cam 2300 S, useful for over 110mph, was in production until 1957. During this time these cars competed at Le Mans and the Mille Miglia, and very successfully in Rallies. The Salmson company ended when it was bought by Renault in 1957.
