Vauxhall - Vauxhall Astra

The Vauxhall Astra was introduced in 1980, with a new range of 1300 or 1600cc engines. The Astra was the first front wheel drive Vauxhall and was the British version of G.M's European counterpart, the Opel Kadett. Initially the Astras were imported into the UK from Germany, with Astra production starting up in the UK by 1982. By 1983 there was a new fuel injected 1800cc GTE Vauxhall. For 1984 the MK2 versions were on stream while shortly afterwards the Astra GTE got fitted with a 2 litre engine.
