Volkswagen - VW K70

The Volkswagen K70 was produced from 1970 onward. It was the 4 door saloon that was being developed by NSU to compliment their rotary engine model, when the company was taken over by VW in 1969. VW had already bought Audi from Daimler Benz, and the NSU takeover absorbed it into the Auto Union brand. The NSU K70 (K for Kolben meaning Piston engine, as opposed to rotary motor, and the number 70 which denoted the horespower) was completed and although ready for the 1969 Geneva show, but was pulled and shelved. Throughout its life as a VW, it got more component parts from the VW parts bin as the years went on. The K70 was a front engine, water cooled front wheel drive car. Production of the VW K70 ended in 1975.
