Regarding the 175R400 tyre size. Blockley manufactures a 130mph speed rated superb steel belt radial tyre that has similar dimensions to a 175R400, a size that you see advertised elsewhere. So what is that all about?

When Michelin first invented the radial ply tyre, the first production tyre available to the public was the 165R400 size. Blockley manufactures this millimetric tyre size, to the same dimensions as the original Michelin was. The 165R400 became standard fitment on so many sportier cars, and all Lancias (Aurelia, Falminia Aprilia), Alfa Romeo (1900, 2000 and 2600) and Ferrari 250. Michelin became standard fitment on all these Lancias, always as a rule the 165R400 size although the 175 was fitted to some of the saloons.

Pirelli, now owned by the Chinese state, has embarked on a large range of Classic tyres and and now makes this 165R400 size, but the diameter of it is considerably smaller than the original Michelin 165R400 was!  Pirelli also make a 175R400 size, but again this must be too small as well because their 175R400 tyre is actually a little smaller than a Blockley 165HR400 or Michelin 165R400! Therefore a Blockley 165HR400 is an ideal fitment.

So fit the superb handling 165HR400 when that is the size you require, and should you require a 175R400 the Blockley tyre is a more correct dimension that anything else available that is advertised 175R400! And as with all Blockley radial ply tyres, we say scrub in, drive for 1,000 or so miles, and if they are not the best you have driven on we will refund.
