Alvis - Alvis TA14

The background to the Alvis TA14 : The war years at Alvis were taken up with Military work but by 1945 it was time to look at producing cars again, and the new reality of the austere 1940's was no time to be making anything like the 4.3 Alvis ! A few years before the war, from 1937 onward, Alvis had made a smaller 1842cc model called the 12/70, and it was really this same car that was rolled out in 1945 as the TA14. Still with leaf spring suspension the frame was lengthened by 2 inches and the track by 4 inches while under the bonnet the engine bore was enlarged by 1mm to give 1892cc. Apart from the standard saloon later on the range was increased with drophead coupes by Tickford and Carbodies. The Alvis TA14 stayed in production until 1950.

The original tyre fitment for the Alvis TA14 was 6.00x16. We would suggest fitting the equivalent radial ply tyre size 185VR16, which Blockley produces a superb example of - see full details below:
