Alvis - Alvis TA21
The Alvis TA2, introduced in 1950, was the direct replacement for the earlier TA14. This was the new postwar design with the all new Alvis 3 litre seven main bearing 6 cylinder engine, installed into a newly designed chassis which had independent front suspension. This new 6 cylinder engine, starting off with 83hpfitted with a single Solex, or 93hp with twin SU carburettors, was the basis for all future postwar Alvis engines. Bodywork was mostly by Mulliner with their 4 door saloon design, with Tickford being the next most used coachbuilder, having their drophead coupe bodywork. Production of the Alvis TA21 carried on to 1953.
Wheels on the Alvis TA21 were now the smaller diameter 15 inch size, compared to its predecessor.
