Alvis - Alvis TA21

The Alvis TA21 was the model that was the replacement for the earlier TA14, introduced in 1950. This was the new postwar design with the all new Alvis 3 litre seven main bearing 6 cylinder engine, put into a newly designed independent front suspension chassis. This new 6 cylinder engine, starting off with 83hp with a single Solex, or 93 hp with twin SU carburettors was the basis for all future postwar Alvis engines. Bodywork was mostly by Mulliner with their 4 door saloon, with Tickford being the next most used coachbuilder with their drophead coupe bodywork. Production of the Alvis TA21 carried to 1953.

Wheels on the Alvis TA21 were now the smaller diameter 15 inch, compared to its predecessor. Tyres size for the TA21 was originally 6.40x15 and we would recommend the radial equivalent 185VR15, which Blockley produces a superb example of - see full details below:
