Arnolt

Stanley Harold "Wacky" Arnolt was one of the first importers of the MGTC into the USA post war. After selling 1,000 Morris Minors in a single deal he became the American importer for BMC in the Mid West, while he also had the agency for Bristol. Wacky ordered 200 MG TD rolling chassis destined for Bertone to build bodywork for, which were sold in the USA as Arnolt-MG, but for various reasons MG could only deliver about half of the 200 chassis. So he ordered 140 or so Bristol 404 chassis and got Bertone to clothe them with a design from the pen of Franco Scaglione, which he sold as the Arnolt-Bristol. Incredibly the Arnolt Bristol price was less than half of what a Bristol 404 retailed for in the USA showroom. There were also a small handful of Aston Martins that got the same Scaglione/Bertone treatment in 1954.
