Daimler - Daimler Conquest

The Daimler Conquest was first produced in 1953, using the overhead valve Lanchester 14 Leda six cylinder engine of 2433cc. In fact the whole car was based around the Lanchester, the name Conquest being because this Daimler was priced at £1,066 without the punitive purchase tax, which was the same date as the the Norman Conquest of Britain! For 1954 the Daimler Conquest Century was given an alloy cylinder head with larger valves. The 100 horsepower achieved with this modified engine is why the term Century was used. Daimler Conquest production lasted until 1957.
