DKW - DKW F102

DKW F102 built between 1964 and 1966 took over from the Auto Union 1000, and was the last car to carry the DKW or Auto Union name, before Volkswagen bought the company and started using the Audi name instead. This DKW was developed under Daimler Benz ownership and was contiunued with the VW takeover, although the Dusseldorf factory where the DKW and Auto Unions were made was retained by Daimler Benz for commercial vehicle production. The DKW F102 in line 3 cylinder 1175 cc was advanced but the public were going away from 2 stroke engines and VW halted the production in 1966, replacing the engine with a 4 cylinder conventional engine and renamed the Audi F103, the first time the Audi name had been used on a car since the late 1930's.
