Gilbern - Gilbern Invader

The Gilbern company was often strapped for funds and to get things moving the company was sold to a nearby company who were able to inject the required capital and expand the company, increasing the workforce 3 fold. Both Gil and Bern (Giles Smith and Bernard Friese) stayed on for a while.

The new Gilbern Invader had larger brakes, beefed up front suspension, stronger chassis and a lot more creature comforts, including electric windows. An Estate version was also made available from 1970. The cars were continually evolved until production ceased in 1973.

The tyre size originally supplied with the Gilbern Invader was 165R15 and Blockley would recommend the steel belted 165VR15 size. For those wanting a wider version of this tyre size, Blockley also produce a 185/70VR15 tyre size. Details below.
