Lagonda - Lagonda LG 45

The LG45 Lagonda was the first model produced by Lagonda after the company was purchased by the new owner A.P.Good from the receiver, outbidding Rolls Royce who were also interested. Goods first move was to hire W.O. Bentley, who set to work with his team modifying the existing M45 with which they unexpectedly won the 1935 Le Mans race. The new series of models to come out of this were called the LG45 series, still using the Meadows engine, but with a lower slung chassis and many other changes. With the success of Lagonda at Le Mans, and a new Lagonda model at the hand of WO Bentley it is no wonder Rolls Royce were incensed that the Bentley connection was being used, having not long obtained the Bentley company to make sure it was in their domain. There was even a court case where Rolls Royce successfully sued Lagonda for stating in their advertising that WO Bentley had a hand in designing the Lagonda! The first LG45's were the 3.6 litre engined cars built between 1935 and 1936 while from 1936 onwards they had the larger 4.5 litre Meadows engine available with two chassis length options. From 1938 the chassis was independently sprung at the front with the short chassis being shortened a little further.

Lagonda LG45 tyre size was originally 600x18. Blockley produces the perfect tyre for the LG45 marked 600/650x18 tyre, with correct dimensions that mean no modifications to the Lagondas steering arms will be necessary, as is required with the Michelin tyre which has the overall that runs on the steering arms in cornering.

If your car has been been fitted with non standard 19" wheels, we can also supply our superb Blockley 550/600x19 tyre. See full details of these tyres below:
