Lagonda - Lagonda Rapier
The Lagonda Rapier was a 4 cylinder 1100cc twin overhead cam car produced in 1934. This was a little gem which was to be one of the finest 1100cc yet produced, and although the intention originally was to build an all alloy engine, it ended up being made in heavier iron due to cost constraints, which was coupled to a close ratio ENV75 preselector gearbox. But soon the Lagonda company was in financial difficulties, no doubt not helped by this project. In 1935 the new Lagonda company sold on the rights to the Lagonda Rapier to a new company called rapier Carsbased in lagondas previous Service department, and these later Ranalah bodied cars were made in small numbers until 1938.
Lagonda Rapier tyre size originally was 450x19 for which Blockley have the perfect tyre. As an option there is a wider 475x19 tyre for those who like the idea!
