Volvo - Volvo 66

The Volvo 66 was built from 1975, a development of the earlier DAF66, mostly safety relatd features. Volvo had taken an interest in the DAF company and was a  30% shareholder, which later led Volvo to purchase the rest of the stock in 1973, to create the new company in the Netherlands called Volvo Car BV. The Volvo 66 was the result of all this, based on the DAF 66 with the Variomatic gearbox system which had been improved over the years. The Volvo 66 was available in two formats, the standard saloon or an estate version with 3 doors, with little difference to its predecessor other than details attached to improving safety (seats and side impact protection). The Volvo 66 was continually improved in detail over its 5 years of production which went to 1980.

Volvo 66 tyre sizes were originally 135-14 and 155R13. 135-14 is a size no longer produced, and the nearest size (which was also recommended in period) is the very similar 145R14 which is the tyre size fitted today. Blockley produces the perfect 145R14 tyre with a steel belt construction and good speed rating that will make these Volvos handle superbly - guaranteed, and at a very attractive price. For the Volvo 66 with 13" wheels, Blockley also produce the  155R13 tyre size which is perfect for these Volvos.  See full details of the 145R14 and 155R13 tyre sizes at teh links below:
