Volvo - Volvo 66

The Volvo 66 was built from 1975. Volvo had taken an interest in the DAF company and was a  30% shareholder, which later led Volvo to purchase the rest of the stock in 1973, to create the new company in the Netherlands called Volvo Car BV. The Volvo 66 was the result of all this, based on the DAF 66 with the Variomatic gearbox system which had been improved over the years. The Volvo 66 was available in two formats, the standard saloon or an estate version with 3 doors, with little difference to its predecessor other than details attached to improving safety (seats and side impact protection). The Volvo 66 was continually improved in detail over its 5 years of production which went to 1980.

Volvo 66 tyre size was originally 135R14 which is a size no longer produced, and the nearest size is the very similar 145R14 that is the size fitted today.
