Volvo

The first Volvo car was produced in 1926, which needed to be practical and reliable, suitable for the harsh Swedish climate. The first postwar Volvo was the PV444, although at this time the main priority for the Volvo factory was making badly needed tractors and lorries, rather than passenger cars. The Volvo Amazon came in 1957, later with an uprated S version. For 1968 the capacity was increased from 1600cc to 2 litres. The Volvo P1800 introduced in 1961 spanned eleven years of production, this P1800 model being made famous in the series "The Saint" starring Roger Moore. The P1800 was followed by the Volvo 140 (1966 - 1974) followed by the Volvo 240 series (1974 to 1993).
