Alfa Romeo - Alfa Romeo Alfetta

The Type 116 Alfa Romeo Alfetta was built from 1972 onwards, having a combined gearbox and rear axle (transaxle) for better weight distribution. Originally a 1.8 litre saloon (Berlina) followed by a 1600cc base model that was introduced in 1985 and called the Alfetta 1.6 , which meant they sensibly renamed the earlier twin headlight model Alfetta 1.8. In 1977 the 2 litre version appeared, called Alfetta 2000 while the already produced Alfa Romeo 2000 came to the end of its production. The Alfetta 2000 was quite a bit different from the Alfettas 1.6 and 1.8 in that it was on a longer chassis and a different front end with rectangular lights and large black bumpers, while the interior completely reworked. The following year 1978 more power was extracted with the Alfetta 2000L, with even more interior appointments, while from 1979 the engines were fuel injected, the same year that a diesel version was added to the Alfetta range.

All Alfa Romeo Alfetta 1600 and 1800 models were fitted with the 165R14 tyre size from the factory, with the sportier Alfetta GT and and Alfetta GTV models having the wider version 185/70R14 tyre size. Blockley makes the 165HR14 size, and well as the wider 185/70VR14 size, both these sizes with the correct high speed rating, with steel belt construction that are perfect period looking tyres - see full details of these Alfetta tyres below:
