Toyota - Toyota Corolla
Toyota needed a smaller car to capitalise on the demand for a small fuel efficient car, and the Toyota Corolla was the result, introduced in late 1966. Updated in 1970, the Corolla was followed by the third generation in 1974 which now also offered a hatch back body in the range.
Tyre sizes for the Toyota Corolla 1100,1200SL and 1200 Coupe were factory listed with the 155R13 tyre, fitted to 4J wheel rims. A wider tyre alternative (i.e. same diameter but wider) is the 175/70R13 size that was used on the 110hp Corolla. For the Corolla 1600 the tyre size was enlarged to 165R13, with the wider 185/70R13 a popular fitment size post 1980, while this larger 185/70R13 size was in any case listed for some of the American series Corolla as an option from the early 1970's.
