Vauxhall - Vauxhall Velox

The Vauxhall Velox (EIP Series) was the larger new model introduced for 1951, using Vauxhalls existing six cylinder 2262cc overhead valve engine, now producing 55 bhp. The Velox model can be thought of as the six cylinder version of the Vauxhall Wyvern produced at the same time. For 1952 the Velox was modified (now called the VeloxEIPV model) with the larger engine bore diameter coupled with shorter stroke giving almost the same 2262cc capacity, but allowing the engine to give considerably more power. This was thanks to the RAC horsepower rating being dropped, which took away the reason for manufacturers tradition of building small bores and long strokes so the cars would end up in a lower taxation class. With various improvements and restyling the Vauxhall Velox EIPV stayed in production until 1957. Next came the VeloxPA which also had the 6 cylinder version PA SX, and for 1962 the final version of the model, the Vauxhall VeloxPB later with elarged engine for 1964. Velox production went to 1965.

There were 2 tyre sizes for the Vauxhall Velox types, listed by Vauxhall:

- Vauxhall Velox tyre size for the EIP series (1952 to 1957) was originally 5.90x15, and the  radial equivalent of this is the 165R15 size. Blockley produces a high quality good speed rated 165VR15 size, which is perfect for the Velox - full details of this tyre below:

- Vauxhall Velox PA series (PA S, later PA SY and PY SX built 1957 to 1962) had 14 inch wheel diameter and fitted with tyre size 5.90x14, the radial equivalent of which is 165R14. Blockley produces a superb 145HR14 tyre, full details below:
