Volvo - Volvo 164
The Volvo 164, sold from 1969, was a 4 door saloon of the Volvo 14 range, now fitted with a 6 cylinder 3 litre seven main bearing engine, built specially for the luxury car market to compete with the likes of BMW, Mercedes and Jaguar, although this was never fully achieved. The number 164 meaning First series, 6 cylinder and 4 doors. Wheelbase was lengthened and for 1972 fuel injection was added which increased the engine power to 175bhp. Restyled extensively for 1973. The Volvo 164 production went on to 1975.
Volvo 164 tyre size was originally 165R15, and Blockley produces the perfect period correct 165VR15 tyre. For interest, after late 1972 onwards the tyre size was changed to a full 80 profile 175R15, a tyre size no longer made, so you'll need to stick with teh original 165R15 size. Blockley makes a superb 165VR15 tyre which we guarantee will transform the handling. A fatter version of this tyre is the 185/70VR15 tyre we also manufacture.
