Volvo - Volvo Amazon

The Volvo Amazon was introduced in 1956 alongside the PV444 and PV544 models. There were a number of Volvo Amazon models to choose from, the 2 door, a 4 door and by 1962 an estate version. But outside of Sweden itself the Amazon was initially marketed as the Volvo 121 (the basic model) or Volvo 122S (the Sports model with a more powerful engine) or Volvo 123. This name change was because the Amazon name was already in use on a German motorcycle, so the Amazon name was not officially used outside of Sweden. But in any case, these Volvo Amazons are all part of the Volvo 120 range of cars. Throughout the long years of Volvo Amazon production the engines in the cars were 1583cc, 1778cc and 1986 cc capacity. The Volvo Amazon was in production until 1970.

Volvo Amazon tyre size was originally 5.90x15 which is a radial 165R15 equivalent size. And in any case Volvo started fitting this same 165R15 tyre size shortly afterwards as the use and availability of radial tyres became more widespread. This was the same as the Volvo 121 and 122 which is how the Amazon was marketed in some countries outside Sweden. We would recommend our exceptional, period correct high quality steel belt construction 165VR15 tyre size which will transform the handling of these Volvo Amazons - guaranteed. If a non standard wider tyre were wanted, then the wider version of the original size 165R15 would be our 185/70VR15. See full details of these tyres below:
