Austin - Austin Maestro

The Austin Maestro was the British Leyland replacement for their previous Allegro and Maxi models, with the Maestro becoming available from 1982. The Austin Maestro had the hatchback 4 door bodywork, while the the notch backed body version became the Montego. There were high hopes for the Austin Maestro which was designed from a clean sheet, to be able to secure a solid foundation for British Leyland, a company which was UK Government owned. The engine originally intended for the new design was not completed in time so the E series engine as used in the Maxi was used instead. But the new S series engine was completed for 1984. Austin Maestro production continued to 1991, and also badged as a more expensive Rover Maestro.

Austin Maestro had two tyre sizes - For cars fitted with 13" wheels the tyre size was 145R13 for the 1.3 and 155R13 for the 1.3L and 1.3HL, with the Maestro 1.3HLE having the 165R13 tyre size. For the larger engine size Maestro 1.6L, 1.6HL and 1.6HLS the tyre size fitted by the factory was the 165R13. Blockley produce the Maestro 145R13, 155R13, 165HR13 tyre sizes which we list below, along with wider versions of 155R13 (175/70R13) and wider version of 165R13 (185/70R13) for those that would like these - details below:
