Autobianchi
Autobianchi grew out of the company started by Edoardo Bianchi. Like mant motor car manufacturers Bianchi originally made high quality bicycles, then motorcycles and starting into the 1900's some very high quality motorcars (including racing machinery built for the early Targa Florio's) as well as trucks. At one stage Bianchi was one of the largest Italian car producers. Post war and in a new factory the Bianchi company had abandoned the luxury car sector to concentrate on bicycles, motorcycles and trucks. By 1955 the Bianchi company was restructured with new partners and a new name Autobianchi, the first Autobianchi offering being the Bianchina, based on the Fiat 500. Bianchi family involvement in the Autobianchi company lasted to 1968, after which it was owned wholly by Fiat.
