Ford - Ford Thunderbird

The Ford Thunderbird model first appeared as a 2 seater sports car in 1955, referred to by most people as the T-Bird. As time progressed the T-Bird got 4 seats for the 1958 second series, restyled for 1961 with a more streamlined look, which was superseded for 1964 with the fifth generation on T-Bird, which was soon to get front disc brakes. The Thunderbird name was used by Ford to 2005.

Tyre size for the Ford Thunderbird / T-Bird was originally a cross ply 6.70x15, the radial equivalent of which is 185R15, for cars built to 1958, after which the T-Bird was reworked and fitted with 14" wheels and 8.00x14 tyres, the radial equivalent of which is the 205R14 size, which continued to be used on the later models of Thunderbird to 1963. After this date the subsequent Thunderbird models went to 15 inch wheels gradually increasing the tyre sizes as time went on, and a good radial equivalent to use is the 215/70R15 tyre size. Blockley produces all these tyre sizes with high quality, high speed rated period correct tread looking tyres that result in superb handling, and at sensible prices because we sell direct to the end users and garages, avoiding the Classic Tyre wholesalers.
