Mini - Mini Moke

The Mini Moke was originally designed by Alec Issigonis for army use with a steel monocoque centre section attached to the standard Mini subframes at each end. But for military use the ground clearance turned out to be inadequate. The Mini Moke was then marketed for civilian use in 1964, ideally for recreational use and popular on holiday destinations. The spartan little car initially used a detuned version of 848cc engine, so it could run on the lowest possible grade fuel. The Moke was also made in Australia (from 1966 to 1981) and Portugal (from 1980).

Tyre size for the Mini Moke is 145R10 or the wider 165/70R10 can also be used, both sizes of which is produced by Blockley, details below.

Tyre size for the Australian Mini Mokes started off with the 10" wheel size, but from 1968 they were fitted with 13" wheels and 5.60x13 tyres which also resulted in more ground clearance, so for these Australian Mokes (which from 1973 were marketed as the Leyland Moke) is the radial 165R13 Blockley tyre size. Some people fit a non standard wider tyre 185/70R13 (same diameter but wider) which will just touch on full lock . . . See full details of these tyres below:
