Vauxhall - Vauxhall Cresta
The Vauxhall Cresta first appeared in 1954 as a six cylinder 2262cc saloon with four doors. Basically this was the same basic vehicle as the 1954 Vauxhall Velox, and in the same state of tune, the Cresta was the Vauxhall with all the upgrades such as superior upholstery choices, a heater (as standard), cigar lighter and all the other essentials! The next model from Vauxhall was the CrestaPA and for 1962 the CestaPB with hugely revised bodywork and 2651cc engine. There was also and Estate version with Martin Walter bodywork, a coachbuilder that transfered to making bodywork for cars early on. For 1964 the Vauxhall Cresta engine was bored out to 3293cc. By late 1965 the Cresta model was the restyled as the CrestaPC which was available in either standard or Deluxe versions, which were in production until 1972. The Executive version of the Cresta PC had its own name . . .
The Vauxhall Cresta had many tyre sizes over the years of production, with tyres to fit wheel sizes of 14 and 15 inch diameters, so we summarise the Cresta tyre sizes below:
- 1954 to 1957 Vauxhall Cresta fitted 5.90x15 tyres originally, which is radial equivalent 165R15 size. Blockley produces this 165VR15 tyre, see details below.
- The Vauxhall Cresta built from 1958 onwards had smaller diameter 14 inch wheels fitted with 5.90x14 tyres, which is radial equivalent 165R14. Blockley produces the perfect 165HR14 tyre, see below.
- Vauxhall Cresta models PB and PC from 1962 to 1972 originally had tyre size 5.90x14 , which is radial equivalent 165R14 tyre size.
-The estate version of the Vauxhall Cresta was listed with a larger 185HR14 tyre size which Blockley also makes (in standard and whitewall types), equivalent to the 7.00x14 cross ply.
