Turner
Started by Jack Turner, Turner cars first appeared in 1951, built in Wolverhampton at Pendeford airport. Always aiming at the sports car market, with light built machinery using many engines such as Vauxhall Wyvern and Velox, MG and the massive effort in building a Turner engine based on a Lea Francis but with alloy block and cylinder head, initially for an F2 car. From 1955 things got smaller, initially using tuned Austin A30 and later A35 engines, along with Austin gearbox, suspension and suspension. For 1959 the Coventry-Climax engined cars appeared. The final model was the Turner Mk3 with 1500cc Ford engine. Production continued to 1966.
