Fairthorpe
Fairthorpe were available from 1955, small cars powered by BSA motorcycle engines, with their better know "Electron" appearing the followong year, initially with Coventry Climax engines. This was followed by the lower priced Fairthorpe Electron Minor which used the Standard Ten engine and components. There was also a saloon version of the Electron called the Electrina. The Electron Minor was renamed in the later part of 1963 to the EM Three (short for Electron Minor 3), and these developed through the years to EM Three A in 1964, EM mk.IV in 1968, EM Mk. V and VI for 1970, which all developed alongside as the Triumph Spitfire model evolved.
For 1959 Fairthorpe built the Zeta, a sportscar fitted with the 2.6 litre Zephyr engine, available in any state of tune (special heads, carburettor and so on) which was joined in the range by the Rockette that was built around Triumph Vitesse components, both models being built to 1965 when the Fairthorpe TX series started, the TX being the new model started by the founders son, Torix Bennett. Production of Fairthorpe cars continued to 1973.
