Alfa Romeo - Alfa Romeo prewar models
Blockley produces probably every tyre size that Alfa Romeo specified from the start of the company, from our 60+ tyre size range. The Blockley range covers the earlier beaded edge / clincher tyres used on models such as Merosis Alfa Romeo RL , RLTF , RLSS (820x120) for which we were given the original wheel drawings by Cav. Luigi Fusi. Larger models such as the GI used the 895x135 size. And we make the straight sided tyres which many owners changed over to later when the earlier tyre types became unavailable or too expensive.
After the arrival of Vittorio Jano at Alfar Romeo the series of six cylinder 1500 (and a few Testa Fisa versions for the Irish TT), 1750 in various standard and supercharged forms had 18" and 19" tyre sizes, and then the different models of the 8 cylinder 8C 2.3 which were various 19" tyre sizes. Next came the all new chassis with independent suspension 6C2300 in 1934, which followed on to the 6C2500 for 1939 which we cover fully elsewhere in the Blockley website, and for which we have produced the correct special 17" and 18" tyres with period correct tread patterns, to an extremely high quality, because we needed these for cars ourselves.
Our Blockley tyres are built to the highest quality with no compromises, handle superbly and look perfect. In addition to being used for competition events as well as on the road, our authentic Blockley tyres have also been on Alfa Romeos that have won major Concours events, even being on cars winning "Best of show" at Pebble Beach. Remember our Blockley tyres have been made because we are Alfa Romeo owners ourselves and realised that to have a decent no compromise product, making them ourselves was the only way to achieve this, rather than be at the mercy of the products that the big companies make, who are neither end users of these products, or frankly seem know much about the cars that their tyres fit to (despite their marketing claims), which is why their products are in our opinion lacking and made more for their benefit that the people using them - hence Blockley Tyre Co. being started! This is where Blockley Tyre Co. is so different. And what appear to be our low prices are only because we sell direct to the end user / workshops and not through the Classic Tyre dealer / wholesalers.
