Daimler - Edwardian & Vintage
Daimler was one of the first car manufacturers in England, and once their motor cars started using pneumatic tyres, these were of course all of the beaded edge / clincher type. Daimler, like other motor car manufacturers, carried on using beaded edge tyres on their cars into the middle of the 1920's. Listed below are some of the beaded edge tyre sizes the Daimler company were using. If you require any advice on anything Daimler and tyre related, feel free to get in touch. The Blockley beaded edge tyre range came about because we wanted the best quality product, after a lot of research and prototypes we produced. We have also manufactured a full range of Blockley Superior inner tubes to compliment them, which you can see full details of at the links below.
We list a number of Daimler models below from this period, giving a flavour of the huge number of vehicle models they made, with the tyre sizes they were specified with originally, although many would have been changed in the ensuing years as these tyre sizes became difficult to obtain and so on (for which Blockley will have produced the alternatives). Around 1909 Daimler adopted the sleeve valve engine design, to Knight patents, and continued with this design philosophy to the early 1930's.
