Jaguar - Jaguar 420

The Jaguar 420 was the new model Jaguar available for 1967 delivery. The Daimler version of this 420 was called the Daimler Sovereign. At that time the Jaguar range included the Mk2, the S Type and 420G, so some might think it was an unusual policy to add yet another new model to an already full range of Jaguar 4 door saloons.

The Jaguar 420 had the 4.2 litre engine which produced more torque (but no more power than the earlier 3.8 engine), still fitted with twin carburettors as used on the S Type.  The 420 / Sovereign was based on the S Type which had independent rear suspension, but with the Jaguar 420 William Lyons chose a different look with the front of the car more akin to the look of the Mk10, mainly because the Mk2 / S type shape was now becoming a little dated, which made the Jaguar 420 look a fresh new model. But as the large Mk10 and 420G were not selling as well as had originally been anticipated, the Jaguar 420 could help plug some of these marketing issues.

Jaguar 420 factory tyre fitment was a radial 185R15, and Blockley produces this high speed rated, steel belt construction 185VR15 tyre, which will transform the handling of the Jaguar 420 - guaranteed.
